- DIRCHECK.COM DOCUMENTATION
- Rev 1.7 7-16-85

-
- Dircheck.com is intended as a utility for bulletin board systems. It
- checks the directory listings, and confirms that all of the files listed as
- available for downloading really do exist. It was written because other
- similar utilities could not check for files that might be stored in more
- than one drive, and/or subdirectory. Dircheck.com will look for files in as
- many as 25 drives, and subdirectories. It reads the DOS directories into
- memory, and does its checking in memory. For this reason it is quite a bit
- faster than other similar programs. My system has more than 1400 files, and
- the file that lists the files available for downloading is more than 70K.
- Dircheck.com was able to check this in less than ten minutes. Dircheck will
- at the users discretion edit the directory listing, deleting those files
- at are not actually present on the system. If this option is selected, it
- will make a backup copy of the file, saving it with a ".OLD" extension.
- Other options are:
-
- a) outputting a list of missing files to the printer
- b) outputting a list of missing files to disk
-
- If you wish to check all of your directory listing files at once, you can
- use wildcards. The program will prompt you for the name of the directory
- you want to check. If instead of saying "60.DIR", you say "*.DIR", it will
- treat all files in the default directory as if they were download lists.
- you can check your system, and edit all of your files in one shot.
-
- The next version of Dircheck will list those files that are on the
- system, BUT NOT listed in the download directories.
